Bill's Blog: Snow Day

As of Monday night at 7:00 pm, we are going to get anywhere from 8-15 inches of snow over the next 48 hours, depending on where you live. Compared to what we usually get, this is pretty substantial. We're actually pretty lucky if you think about it. The East Coast has had at least four of these types of storms already this year alone! Whereas, we might get one of these once every five or six years. We just happen to be in a geographic location that doesn't get a lot of snow. Ohio gets more than us. Western Michigan gets more. Pretty much every state around us gets more snow than we do...So, I guess what I'm saying, is that we are allowed to open every TV newscast with ten minutes about the pending winter storm. We can enjoy every channel telling us how each county is preparing for "Winter Slamfest '11". We deserve a newscast opening with four reporters, all in different locations in and around Detroit, telling us how each community is preparing for a certain type of precipitation that has occurred every year of their life! And, considering, kids get the day off if we get 5" of snow, this will mean school's done for the rest of the week!...Friends, neighbors, let's celebrate this storm. This is our winter Super Bowl!
