Bill Signed To Extend Home Foreclosure Protections
LANSING (WWJ) -In an unusual move, Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley has signed a bill extending home foreclosure protections.
Gov. Rick Snyder usually signs bills into law... but he was traveling out-of-state Friday to a wedding and wanted the bill signed before the protections expired on Tuesday. So Calley did the honors, which the Michigan Constitution allows.
The new law establishes procedures for homeowners who are behind on their mortgage payments to work with their lenders to modify loans and avoid foreclosure.
The protections were extended for six months.
