If your dad likes seafood, you are in luck, because Ashley's "All you can eat Lobsterfest" has been an ongoing tradition for four decades now. Lobsterfest takes place at both Ashley's locations (Ann Arbor + Westland) June 18-20, and prices change yearly; if you don't have a big appetite, you can order just one or two plates of lobster too. The lobster is flown in from the East Coast the day of, so that it's very fresh, and Ashley's does ask that you make reservations beforehand. Ashley's is also known for its many beers on tap, including some local beers, and would make for a great Father's Day dinner spot. The Ann Arbor location has street parking and also a few parking structures nearby.

If your dad is a barbecue lover, Bad Brad's is one of the best BBQ joints in the metro area. Start off with its "pig bacon," bacon that is covered in sugar and spices, and from there move on to either the baby-back ribs or any of the meat plate combinations. Its mashed sweet potato is also worth ordering, as is the cornbread, which is more of a mini cornbread pie. Bad Brad's also has many Michigan beers on tap, as well as wines and non-alcoholic drinks, such as its Faygo root beer floats.

Why not mix it up a bit this father's day and try some international cuisine? Vicente's is the best place for Cuban and tapas in the Detroit area. Start out with some tapas to share with the family, such as the beef empanadas, chicken and mushroom, or chorizo, and move on from there to the main dishes, such as Ropa Vieja (shredded beef), Corte de Lomo Encebollado (steak), or perhaps the Arroz con Pollo. Finish your meal with a sweet dessert such as the Flan al Caramelo or Tres Leches Cake. Vicente's also has salsa dancing every Saturday from 10 p.m. to close, if you or perhaps your parents enjoy dancing, too.
