Best Restaurants For Father's Day Dinner Weekend In Detroit

Father's Day is this upcoming weekend, on June 21, and you have no clue where to take your father for dinner. The good news? There are plenty of places in Detroit that your father will definitely be able to get the tasty dinner he deserves. Check out this list for the best restaurants for Father's Day dinner weekend in the metro area.

If your dad likes seafood, you are in luck, because Ashley's "All you can eat Lobsterfest" has been an ongoing tradition for four decades now. Lobsterfest takes place at both Ashley's locations (Ann Arbor + Westland) June 18-20, and prices change yearly; if you don't have a big appetite, you can order just one or two plates of lobster too. The lobster is flown in from the East Coast the day of, so that it's very fresh, and Ashley's does ask that you make reservations beforehand. Ashley's is also known for its many beers on tap, including some local beers, and would make for a great Father's Day dinner spot. The Ann Arbor location has street parking and also a few parking structures nearby.

If your dad is a fan of steak, take him to Mr. Paul's Chop House, which was established in 1968 in Roseville by Paul and Peter Gogo. USDA prime beef and seafood is delivered to the restaurant twice daily, and the restaurant is now run by Mr. Paul's children - Paul Jr., Chris, and Peter run the restaurant, while Nancy, Garry, and Wayne work at the Brewery Restaurant (Mr. Paul's second venue, established in 1980). Try Mr. Paul's homemade caesar salad to start, or perhaps the baked brie appetizer. Steaks run from $21.95 (sliced London broil) to the 14 oz. bone-in filet ($44.95).

Fox Hills normally does a Sunday brunch buffet, but for Father's Day they make it extra special. Brunch normally runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and is $21.95 for adults and $8.95 for children ages 3-12. Coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic beverages are included in that price. The buffet features a carving station, veggies, poached shrimp, charcuterie, a B.Y.O. salad, your typical breakfast dishes (eggs, waffles, pancakes, made to order), house-made danish, and more. It even has a dessert bar, as well as a sundae bar. Fox Hills is located between Curtis Road and S. Territorial Road in Plymouth.

If your dad is a barbecue lover, Bad Brad's is one of the best BBQ joints in the metro area. Start off with its "pig bacon," bacon that is covered in sugar and spices, and from there move on to either the baby-back ribs or any of the meat plate combinations. Its mashed sweet potato is also worth ordering, as is the cornbread, which is more of a mini cornbread pie. Bad Brad's also has many Michigan beers on tap, as well as wines and non-alcoholic drinks, such as its Faygo root beer floats.

Why not mix it up a bit this father's day and try some international cuisine? Vicente's is the best place for Cuban and tapas in the Detroit area. Start out with some tapas to share with the family, such as the beef empanadas, chicken and mushroom, or chorizo, and move on from there to the main dishes, such as Ropa Vieja (shredded beef), Corte de Lomo Encebollado (steak), or perhaps the Arroz con Pollo. Finish your meal with a sweet dessert such as the Flan al Caramelo or Tres Leches Cake.
