Podcast Detroit is actually a network of a few different podcasts, all of which are Detroit-focused. Originally, in 2013, Bob Waltenspiel and David Phillips (who run the IT in the D podcast) started their one podcast out of an internet radio station in Detroit; after two years, the podcast has more than 300,000 weekly listeners. When the Detroit Sound Stations in Ferndale were built, Waltenspiel and Phillips brought in more podcasters and made the Podcast Detroit network. Podcasts range from Eye Am. with Natalia, to the Detroit Sports Rag, to the original podcast, IT in the D. You can find a full schedule of podcasts on the website.

Although this show isn't entirely Detroit-focused, these gamers do promote the local area as much as possible. On their Facebook page, they talk about a mix of technology, gaming, movies, science and video games; however, the podcasts often intersect with local stores and DJs too. They work with Cranbrook Institute of Science on its After Dark program, as well as local video gaming stores in Garden City. The podcast has featured local artists that frequent area comic conventions as well, and recently they have been focusing on music guests that are passionate about "nerd culture." Gamers Wit Attitude airs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays.

The Detroit Cast is a more alternative news show for those that don't mind a bit of language and a show that doesn't comply with FCC regulations. It broadcasts from a studio in Franklin. The founders of the Drew and Mike show decided to create The Detroit Cast when their own show was ending. Before that, The DrewCast was launched, which later turned into The Detroit Cast. A Kickstarter campaign was started to fund the podcast, with the goal of raising $20,000 in 30 days, and instead, they ended up raising $45,000. New episodes are available at 4 a.m. every weekday (Monday through Friday), and you can find episodes on your favorite podcasting app (iTunes, Pocket Casts, etc.).
