Baseball Says It Won't Change Disputed Galarraga Call
Baseball commissioner Bud Selig said today that he won't overturn umpire Jim Joyce's missed call and award Armando Galarraga a perfect game.
Selig had the power to reverse umpire Jim Joyce's missed call that came with two outs in the ninth inning Wednesday night in Detroit. Joyce ruled Cleveland's Jason Donald safe, then admitted he got it wrong.
In a statement issued today, Selig said the matter will prompt renewed examination of the expanded use of instant replay.
