Auto Industry Rebound Means More Jobs
DETROIT (WWJ) - After years of cutbacks, it looks like we're going to see a lot of hiring in the auto industry in the coming years.
According to the Center for Automotive Research, up to 36,000 more factory jobs. WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert reports that all of those jobs will be second-tier wage which could, in some cases, bring domestic labor costs below those of the import companies.
That could be a big issue in the coming talks with the UAW, which is trying to win back concessions as the major companies try to remain competitive.
