MACKINAC ISLAND (WWJ/AP) - Business executives, elected officials and other leaders are beginning their annual three-day policy meeting on Mackinac Island.
The Detroit Regional Chamber's Mackinac Policy Conference starts Wednesday and goes until Friday. WWJ Newsradio 950 will be broadcasting live from the island over the three-day meeting.
The gathering comes as Gov. Rick Snyder and the Legislature negotiate a restructuring of Detroit's school district to address nearly $500 million in debt.
The themes of this year's conference are entrepreneurship, urban education and growing the automotive, advanced manufacturing, defense and IT sectors.
The governor, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Michigan's congressional delegation and state lawmakers are among those expected to participate.
