A Conversation With New Pistons Head Coach Mo Cheeks

The 2013-14 Pistons met with the media on Tuesday as a hungry franchise and hungry fanbase gets ready for a brand new NBA season. It's  that comes with expectations of the Pistons getting back to the postseason for the first time since 2009.

The man heading the charge is Maurice Cheeks who is the fifth Pistons coach in the last nine years , but is in charge of a team that might have the most talent since the Larry Brown years.

"We certainly want to work towards getting ourselves into the playoffs there is no question about that ... playing the right way and playing hard , playing basketball that this town is accustomed to seeing," said Cheeks.

Cheeks knows there will be growing pains at times with eight new players in Motown this season, but they are going to be a lot of fun to watch.

Cheeks feels newcomers Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings give the Pistons instant scoring ability , but knows that former Pistons great Chauncey Billups coming back home is going to be a key factor in being an extension of the new head man.

"Players get tired of hearing from coaches and when that happens I got a guy (Chauncey Billups) here whose credentials speak for themselves," he said.
