5-Year-Old Spearheads Pumpkin Pleaser For Kids In Hospital On Halloween

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - What do sick kids do for Halloween? WWJ's Beth Fisher reports that's what a fvie-year old metro Detroit girl asked her parents. And now, they've done something special for kids in the DMC's Children's Hospital:

It's called "Riley's No Carve Pumpkin Creations" and Riley Rudolph and her kindergarten classmates at St. Sebastian Catholic School in Dearborn Heights painted the pumpkins that Riley brought to the hospital.

"I wanted to paint pumpkins for the kids in the hospital," said Riley.

The youngster and her classmates painted 75 pumpkins for youngsters at the hospital.

Riley's mom Contessa says that she is so proud of her little girl -- and that Riley's simple question about sick children on Halloween could turn into something so positive.

Riley arranged several of the pumpkins in the hospital's Healing Garden, and the rest will go home with young patients when they are discharged from the hospital.
