42nd Football Season Gets Underway For Farmington Harrison Coach
FARMINGTON (WWJ) - The 2011-12 High School football pre-season is underway. At Farmington Harrison High, Head Coach John Harrington says 60 kids turned out for day one of practice.
Harrington says 60 kids are on the team, there are no cuts.
"We don't cut, they cut themselves occasionally, anyone that comes out and wants to be a part of the program, we welcome them," said Harrington. "We've got 23 seniors, three have committed to the Big Ten, (two to Michigan, one to Michigan State) but we're just looking at Harrison right now."
Harrington is in his 50th year as a football coach, this is his 42nd year at Harrison High School.
"Ah, football season here, no touch football after Wednesday, it'll be really good," said Harrington. "It's just great to see them come out here, see ones that you didn't expect to see out here, it's a great day because it means that football has started, the most fun day of the year," said Harrington.
Farmington Harrison's season opens on Saturday, August 27th, against Cass Tech at Eastern Michigan University.
