2nd Grader Brings Grenade To Holt School

HOLT, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a second grader brought an inert U.S. military grenade to a Lansing-area school for show-and-tell, prompting a lockdown.

The Ingham County sheriff's department says the principal at Elliott Elementary in Holt removed the grenade from the building on Tuesday morning and called authorities. The Michigan State Police bomb squad was called to remove the grenade, which was found to be inert.

The sheriff's department says the grenade may date back to World War II. The school was on temporary lockdown while authorities responded.

No injuries were reported and no charges were expected.

The school also was searched and no other potential explosives were found.
