2 Motorcyclists Dead In Separate Accidents On Michigan Roads

LIVONIA (WWJ) - Michigan State Police say two motorcyclists died in separate accidents Wednesday afternoon.

MSP troopers were called to the site of a traffic crash involving a motorcycle and semi-truck just after 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at the entrance ramp to westbound M-14 from northbound  I-275 in Plymouth Township.

Authorities say David Dershinski, 68, of Westland, was riding a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, lost control for an unknown reason near the end of the entrance ramp.

The motorcyclist went down, separated from the motorcycle, and went into the path of the rear wheels of the tractor-trailer.

The motorcyclist was run over and pronounced dead at the scene.

Westbound M-14 remained closed at I-275 for several hours for the accident investigation.

The second accident happened just after 2 p.m. when the motorcyclist, Chester Klein of Redford Township, hit a trailer that was pulled off to the shoulder of westbound I-96 near Outer Drive.

Investigators say that Klein was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic and went to pass cars on the shoulder of the freeway and didn't see the trailer that was pulled off the road to fix a flat tire.

State police say both men were wearing helmets.

An investigation continues in both cases by Michigan State Police.
