2 Critically Hurt In 3-Vehicle Crash Closing US-23

YORK TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Two people were critically hurt in a crash that shut down northbound US-23 in Washtenaw County Friday afternoon.

Authorities it appears three vehicles — including two semis — were involved in the incident at around 12:30 p.m. near Willis Road in York Township

Joyce Williams with Huron Valley Ambulance said the car rolled over and one semi ended up on top of another.

Williams said one person was airlifted to a nearby hospital while the other was taken by ambulance. Both were reported in critical condition.

There was no information immediately available about the victims and the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.

The freeway was closed at Carpenter Road, exit 2,7 for an accident investigation, but reopened to traffic in time for the afternoon commute.
