The Peak Of The Perseids Should Be Special
DENVER (CBS4) - It looks like all the elements are coming together for what may be the best looking Perseid Meteor shower since 2009.
Every night this week if you have been up past moonset you may have seen one or two meteors shooting by. But, on Thursday night into Friday morning the show should be really beefing things up.
The peak of this year's Perseid meteor shower will be Thursday night with the best viewing after 1 a.m. into Friday morning. A few NASA scientist are estimating we could see over 150 streaks an hour over the northeastern sky.

Part of the reason more meteors are expected, believe it or not, could be Jupiter! A meteor shower can be made up of several different streams that have happened years before, even 100 years before.
Jupiter's gravitational pull is expected to pull at least three different streams into the Earth's path this year.
Again, the best time to see the peak will be starting around 1 a.m. Thursday into Friday morning. If you can get away from city lights you should be able to see more streaks.
The moon sets at 1:02 a.m. and as soon as it does you should be able to see more meteors. We are hoping Thursday's thunderstorms clear out in time for you to get a good look.
