Powerful Quake Strikes Italy
AMATRICE, Italy (CBS4) - A powerful earthquake has killed at least 73 people north of Rome, according to the Associated Press.
Reports says the 6.2 magnitude quake shook the earth so violently that homes collapsed on top of residents as they slept.
A series of aftershocks also rattled buildings in the area including Rome, which lies less than 100 miles to the southwest.
Other nearby towns are also dealing with the aftermath of destruction.
Heavy equipment is being used to clear the streets of debris.
