Police: High School Teacher Arrested In Prostitution Sting
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- A Greeley high school teacher has been arrested during a prostitution sting and placed on leave from his position.
Police said John Derek Haffner was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute and patronizing a prostitute in Fort Collins. He was one of eight people arrested as part of a prostitution sting at a Fort Collins hotel.
Haffner, 52, was a graduation interventionist who taught career and life choices at Greeley Central High School.
According to Haffner's LinkedIn profile, he also worked as a senior pastor at First United Methodist Church of Pierce where stated his job was to "council persons with personal, ethical or spiritual struggles."
According to the Greeley-Evans School District, Haffner was placed on paid administrative leave on Friday after school district officials learned of his arrest.
Haffner is out of jail and scheduled to return to court in early June.
