New Housing Project Designed To Help Chronically Homeless
DENVER (CBS4)- A new housing project in Denver has been designed to help those who are chronically homeless. The Sanderson Apartments will house some of the city's most vulnerable residents.
Employees with the Mental Health Center of Denver broke ground on the new complex at Federal Boulevard and Alameda Avenue on Monday.
The three-story building will have 60 one bedroom apartments.
"There are a lot of people in the Denver area that are homeless and one of the big problems is affordable housing. And so this project is all about providing affordable housing to people who are homeless in Denver. And it's permanent housing which means people can live there as long as they like," said one representative with the Mental Health Center of Denver.
People living in the complex will also have access to services to help them escape the cycle of homelessness. The apartments should be finished by next summer.
