Mayor Hancock Unveils New Economic Development Plan

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver's mayor is hoping to create new jobs with a new economic development plan.

On Monday Mayor Michael Hancock toured Denver's Battery 621 office. It's home to a collection of start-up businesses with space designed to foster innovation and collaboration.

The mayor says his new JumpStart 2012 economic development plan is focused on retaining businesses already in Colorado and helping new ones grow.

"These businesses are represented by entrepreneurs who we want to be in Denver, who we want to be rooted here, and we need to make sure that we cultivate that innovation and entrepreneurial spirit right here Denver and become the small business and start-up capitol in the nation," Hancock said.

The mayor also wants to create a lending pool of $20 million to make it easier for new businesses to get a loan.
