August To Begin With Hot Temps
DENVER (CBS4) - A new month is on the way, but, the same old heat will be around for a few more days.
On the weather map we have a high pressure area over the desert southwest this is helping to create a west-northwest flow over Colorado. This is bringing in three elements effecting our overall weather pattern. If you have noticed the fiery red, orange sunrises and sunsets of late, these are caused by smoke flowing in from California, Nevada and northern Colorado. That combined with high ozone levels is keeping the air quality over Denver in the poor category.

The second element is the desert heat that is flowing in keeping the eastern plains in the 90s for Monday. The third element is moisture. That is also, the state from the west and will provide one of the ingredients for isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms. The good news though is the chances for severe damaging storms is low.
The Mile High City will stay hot through Wednesday and then a back door cold front should cool things down and give us a much better chance for soaking rains especially on Friday.
