Landlord Shot Inside North Denver Apartment

By Melissa Garcia

DENVER (CBS4) - A landlord was shot inside her North Denver apartment early Saturday morning.

Police are searching for three male suspects on the run. Investigators said the suspects went into the female victim's apartment around 5 a.m. and shot her.

Emergency responders rushed the woman to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police detained one person Saturday morning in connection with the investigation, but officers had not made any arrests by Saturday evening.

Neighbors told CBS4's Melissa Garcia that the landlord lives onsite in unit 1904, but none of them seemed to know who would have wanted to shoot her.

Detectives worked the crime scene throughout the day to determine what was behind the shooting.

Tommy Clenin was asleep when shots rang out at the apartment complex across the street.

"A police officer knocked on my door out of a dead sleep, and he asked me if I heard anything," said Clenin. "It's obviously scary that people are coming and shooting people and then they're still at large."

"It's crazy," said another neighbor. "I feel really bad for that woman."

The shooting left some Cole Neighborhood residents feeling unnerved about gun violence.

"Guns are so available to people, and we end up with situations like this," said Connie Curtis.

The suspects are described as black males.
