I-225 Light Rail Project Through Aurora Making Progress
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- RTD is celebrating the progress made on the Interstate 225 light rail project which will run through Aurora. RTD said the project is nearly 60 percent complete.
Once finished the 10-mile Aurora line will start at the current Nine Mile Station near I-225 and Parker Road.
The light rail will run through the City Center, Children's Hospital, the VA Hospital and end at the Peoria Station. From there passengers can board the East Rail Line to Denver International Airport.
Aurora's mayor believes light rail transportation will change the city.
"The I-225 Line in particular will change the dynamics of this community, we will become more urban," said Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan.
The I-225 Rail Line is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
