DENVER (CBS4)- A charter school in Denver fired a coach for allegedly posting inappropriate sexual comments on a student's Facebook page.
School officials at the KIPP Academy on South Tejon Street learned of the inappropriate contact on Tuesday afternoon from the student. The coach was fired immediately.
School officials said the coach had worked at the school for three months and passed a Denver Public Schools background check.
According to the school, that coach had engaged in a drawn out, explicit conversation with the student through private messages on Facebook.
"The best part of this is that our student knew to come forward. They knew that the interaction was inappropriate and they trusted their teachers enough to immediately bring it to our attention," said Executive Director KIPP Colorado Rebecca Holmes.
Police in Denver said they are aware of the allegations. Detectives are reviewing the case to determine if a criminal investigation is warranted.
