CBS4 Honored With 2 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

Today RTDNA, the Radio Television Digital News Association, announced the winners of its regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and CBS4 Denver was honored in two categories.
CBS4 News at 5 p.m. was honored for Best Newscast in a region that includes Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. The winning entry featured CBS4 coverage of a police chase in March 2014 spanning more than 70 miles, during which a suspect carjacked three different vehicles.
CBS4 Producer Aaron Romek said, "This newscast was a true team effort. The coverage included several reports, covering all the angles of a story that gripped the entire metro area on this day."
CBS4 News was also honored with a regional Murrow Award for Breaking News. The entry included highlights from several hours of severe weather coverage on the afternoon of May 21, 2014. On that day, nine tornadoes were reported in the Denver area.
CBS4 coverage featured extensive field reporting from Justin McHeffey in the Mobile Weather Lab, as well as updates from Ed Greene in Colorado's Weather Center, and live reports from a team of CBS4 reporters.
"It's very special to win a Murrow Award in these two important categories," said News Director Tim Wieland. "These entries demonstrate why we're so proud to be called Colorado's News Channel."
CBS4 will now be considered for a National Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast and Breaking News.
