300 Flights Canceled At DIA, Dozens More Delayed

DENVER (CBS4)- There have been 300 flights cancelled at Denver International Airport after receiving 8.8 inches of snow overnight Friday into Saturday morning.

DIA tweeted an update about passengers checking their flight status on Saturday morning. The airport said it expected one to three inches and instead received nearly nine inches.

Some planes had trouble getting to their gates. Other people reported problems getting to the airport.

That's about 20 percent of the scheduled flights for Saturday.

DIA tweeted out a thank you to passengers who were patient with the delays and the weather conditions.

DIA told CBS4 that some flights will be delayed because the frigid temperatures require extra de-icing time.

The Colorado State Patrol reported numerous accidents, and cars and other vehicles without chains are being turned away from some mountain passes because of deep snow.
