New pilot program allows 7th District police to file gun charges without review

A controversial new pilot program gives police more autonomy, and it has divided some residents and experts. As part of a pilot program with the Cook County State's Attorney, police there can now directly file gun-possession charges without being subject to review by the state's attorney's office.
