First Black principal at Plainfield school honored for work as educator

A middle school principal in southwest suburban Plainfield has been honored for his work as an educator. Kai Freeman, the first Black principal at Drauden Point Middle School, is one of 33 staff and community members being recognized by the district as part of an annual ceremony celebrating excellence in education. Freeman received the Lane Abrell Administration award, named after the district’s former superintendent.
