A University of Chicago law professor is calling for the release of Chicago Police squad car video of a fatal shooting by officers two months ago.
The sergeant watched the 45-year-old man shoot another male about 6:30 p.m. in a business near 111th Street and Spaulding Avenue, according police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. Officers could be seen investigating inside Blackthorn Pub, at 3300 W. 111th St.
The man, 33, was in the 2800 block of West 53rd Street about 9:10 p.m. when he was approached by six to eight males who took his cell phone and fired shots.
The shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. in the 700 block of South Albany Avenue. A 22-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman both were shot in the leg.
As a mother of three drove one of her two sons home from the hospital with a gunshot wound early Sunday morning, her phone rang, and things went from bad to worse. That's when she learned her other son, 15-year-old Nicholas Campbell, had been shot outside a club in south suburban Harvey. His shooting proved fatal.
