Doctors say clearing the way for new vaccine allows the fight to be nimbler if cases spike, but shoring up the most vulnerable now is the right move at the right time. CBS 2’s Chris Tye reports.
Immunocompromised Americans are also now eligible for an extra dose, as well as all those first vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson's vaccine.

Chicago's vaccine mandate for city employees remains in place, and with the deadline having come and gone, thousands of city workers could be put on no-pay status.
As of March 8, at least 3,575 city workers were not yet vaccinated. Of those, 2,777 are employees of the Chicago Police Department, and 327 work for the Fire Department.
