It's billed as a faster way to get around downtown and it starts today.
The transit agency expects the improvements, known as "Loop Link," to result in faster and more evenly-spaced buses.
The 21-year-old man was struck by the train about 9:45 p.m. at the Kedzie station in the 4600 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to Chicago Police and CTA spokesman Jeff Tolman.
The next stop on the CTA's track improvement program is the Green Line -- in Austin and Oak Park.
About 10:30 p.m., he hit the side of the bus with his hand to try and get it to stop in the 5500 block of West North Avenue, police said. When the bus driver stopped, the man was found on the ground with injuries, police said.
The 20-year-old man was standing outside in the 4700 block of North Kimball Avenue at 5:26 p.m. when someone walked up from an alley and fired shots, according to Chicago Police. The CTA's Kimball Brown Line station is located on the same block.
