Bed Bath & Beyond announced on Monday that it had declared bankruptcy.
Mired in a prolonged sales slump, the retail chain has struggled to attract customers both in stores and online.
The company is expected to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy soon as it struggles to raise capital to reorganize its business.
There are 87 closures coming nationwide. These closures are in addition to the 150 already announced back in August.
Four of the stores are in the Chicago area: Gurnee, Schaumburg, Joliet, and Bourbonnais. The other two are in downstate Carbondale and Fairview Heights.
