Chicago woman suing Wendy's after becoming ill from burger meal, lawsuit says
A woman is suing Wendy's after becoming severely sick from eating a double cheeseburger meal.
Roxie Ellis Douglas, 68, says she accrued nearly $100,000 in healthcare expenses.
She claims she was hospitalized after contracting a stomach infection from the burger.
She bought the meal at the Wendy's on Stony Island and 87th Street in the Avalon Park neighborhood.
The lawsuit accuses Wendy's of strict product liability, negligence, and breach of warranty.
CBS News Chicago reached out to Wendy's for comment, but has yet to hear back.
