Woman Killed In DUI Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) - A woman was killed in a DUI-related crash early Saturday on the South Side.

The 35-year-old woman was a pedestrian involved in a 2:15 a.m. crash in the 7300 block of South Racine Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Yasha Hicks, of the 8600 block of S. Aberdeen St., was later pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center at 2:42 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old man, was taken into custody, and police said alcohol or drugs appear to be a factor. No charges have been filed as of early Saturday, Greer said.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
