White Sox Acquire Pitcher Anthony Ranaudo
(CBS) The White Sox have acquired right-handed pitcher Anthony Ranaudo in a trade with the Rangers, dealing pitcher Matt Ball to Texas.
Ranaudo, 26, had a short stint with the Rangers this season, going 1-0 and allowing seven earned runs in 3 2/3 innings for a 17.18 ERA. He was also 1-1 with a 2.02 ERA in 13 1/3 innings over three starts with Triple-A Round Rock. The White Sox have optioned Ranaudo to Triple-A Charlotte.
Ball, 21, has a 4.50 ERA in 10 relief appearances with Class-A Kannapolis this season.
With the move, the White Sox also optioned pitcher Scott Carroll to Triple-A.
A corresponding move will follow before Friday's game with the Yankees.
