Where Is It Safe To Drink The Water?
By John Dodge
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Where in the world is it safe to drink the water?
According to the Centers for Disease Control, pretty much nowhere unless you are in the United States, Canada, or Europe--with a few notable exceptions, such as Israel, Japan and Australia.
South America? No
Asia? Generally, No
Africa? No.
The Fifth Eye took the CDC's data and mapped it.
"Unclean food and water can cause travelers' diarrhea and other diseases," according to the CDC. Travelers to developing countries are especially at risk. Reduce your risk by sticking to safe food and water habits.
"Unclean water can also make you sick if you swallow or inhale it while bathing, showering, or swimming. Try not to get any water in your nose or mouth."
The Chicago Tribune's Stacy St. Clair took this advice quite seriously last year at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Yeah, brown water is not good for your face.
