Watch: Ejected Hockey Player Clotheslines Himself With His Stick
(CBS) Mitchell Skiba learned the hard way -- and painful way -- that you can gain infamy in today's sports climate in just a split second.
A defenseman for the Alpena Flyers of the Midwest Junior Hockey League, Skiba took a penalty over the weekend against the MC Monarchs. He then skated toward the locker room easily enough, until he found trouble actually leaving the ice. Apparently upset by the call, Skiba slammed his stick against the boards, but one end got wedged in the door, leaving his stick horizontal at neck level.
Skiba's momentum took it from there, leading to a self-induced clothesline that -- knowing he's fine -- is quite hilarious. Check it out above.
