Dry, warm stretch continues in Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) — Unusually warm September weather continues this week, but a change in the weather pattern is visible on the horizon as we turn the page to autumn.
Following Chicago's 21st 90-degree day of the year on Monday (a typical year brings 17), slightly milder temperatures are in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday under sunny skies. Breezy northeast winds off the lake are responsible for the cooling.
Temperatures shoot back up into the upper 80s to near 90 on Thursday and Friday, but the heat ridge breaks down this weekend and next week.
This will allow temperatures to drop slightly and a few showers and thunderstorms to return. Stay tuned for forecast updates.
Tonight: Mostly clear and mild. Low: 63
Tomorrow: Sunny and warm. Northeast winds 10-20 mph. High: 85
