Two Shot In Back Of The Yards
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A young man and a teenage boy were seriously wounded Monday night on the South Side, after a gunman opened fire on the two in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
The two were standing on a corner in the 4800 block of South Winchester Avenue about 10:25 p.m. when the gunman walked up and opened fire, police said.
The man, 22, was shot in the leg and grazed by a bullet underneath his eye, police said. He was listed in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital early Tuesday.
The 16-year-old boy was shot in the chest and taken in serious-to-critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.
Police said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.
Area Central detectives were investigating, but no one was in custody early Tuesday.
