Tour Provides Glimpse Into Obama's Life In Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Most Chicagoans know about Barack Obama's rise after he ran for the U.S. Senate or even the Illinois Senate, but a tour today aimed to educate about the years before that, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.

About 30 people piled onto a charter bus in the loop, preparing to head to the South Side for an education about Barack Obama before he ran for office.
Tom Sheppard worked with the tour group Forgotten Chicago to pick out stops that highlighted his work as a community activist at the Altgeld Gardens public housing site and on the southeast side where he tried to help steelworkers find jobs.
Other locations included Obama's favorite lunch spot, the Valois, his old barbershop and the place where he and Michelle kissed for the first time, 53rd and Dorchester.
Tour-goers ranged from a Chicago Architecture Foundation docent who wanted to learn about the non-political side to the 44th president to someone who ran for the State Senate the same year Obama did (1996).
Organizers say they may book the tour again if there's enough interest.
