Normal South Shore Service Expected Friday

(CBS) – Normal service was expected to resume Friday on the South Shore Line, after a disastrous journey for as many as 5,500 morning commuters Thursday.

Ice on tracks and overhead lines blocked inbound trains from getting to Chicago. Some riders were stuck on trains for up to 8 hours before the South Shore Line gave up and suspended service.

Some train service was restored by evening.
