Shooter Held For Domestic Slaying

HARVEY, Ill. (STMW) - A Harvey man was shot and killed during a domestic altercation at his home early Sunday.

Harvey spokeswoman Sandra Alvarado said the victim, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Antwon Wormely, was having an argument with his girlfriend at an unidentified drinking establishment in Markham early Sunday.

The fight "spilled over'' to their home at 320 E. 147th St. in Harvey and at 3:45 a.m., a relative of the victim or his girlfriend shot and killed him, Alvarado said.

Wormely, of an unidentified age, was pronounced dead at 4:32 a.m. at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, and an autopsy Sunday determined Wormely died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the medical examiner's office. His death was ruled a homicide.

Alvarado said the girlfriend is not a suspect but the shooter is in custody and they are working with the Cook County State's Attorney's office to bring charges.
