Semi-Truck Carrying Garbage Rolls Over During Crash Near Volo

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A semi-truck ccarrying garbage rolled over during a crash Monday.

3:30PM UPDATE: Roadway has been reopened! Route 120 between Fish Lake Road and Route 60 (Volo) is closed, due to an overturned truck. Please find an alternate route!

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Route 120 between Fish Lake Road and Route 60 Near Volo was closed.

Officials advised drivers to find an alternative route. Crews were still clearing the scene around 1:30 p.m.

Around 9:45 a.m., the traffic light for Route 120 turned red, but the driver of the semi was unable to stop.  He drove through the red light and struck a vehicle that was turning from southbound Fish Lake Road onto westbound Route 120.

The semi overturned, spilling garbage.

The truck overturned and traveled approximately 200 feet west of the intersection, spilling its load of garbage.

The driver and a passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.  They were both transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville via ambulance.  The driver of the truck was uninjured.
