Report: Former CBS 2 Anchor Bob McBride Dies
BETHESDA, Md. (CBS) -- Former CBS 2 news anchor Bob McBride has died, according to published reports.
The Washington, D.C. media blog DCRTV.com reported that McBride passed away at the age of 83. He had most recently lived in Bethesda, Md.
McBride was the anchor of CBS 2's evening newscasts in the early 1970s.
He was replaced in 1973 by Bill Kurtis and Walter Jacobson, when general manager Robert Wussler and news director Van Gordon Sauter overhauled the station's newscasts and moved them from a studio to the CBS 2 newsroom.
McBride later served as general manager of WJBK-TV, Fox 2 in Detroit, which at the time was a CBS affiliate. He also anchored for WRC-TV, NBC 4 in Washington, and WKYC-TV, NBC 3 in Cleveland, Chicago Tribune columnist Phil Rosenthal reported.
