Report: Expect Theo Deal By Wednesday

(CBS) Both the Cubs and the Red Sox expect to hammer out the compensation deal for Theo Epstein by Wednesday's start of the World Series, the Chicago Tribune's Phil Rogers reports.

Major League baseball does not like to break big news during the playoffs, according to Rogers, but with both the ALCS and NLCS finished, the Cubs and the Red Sox have a two day window to announce Epstein's move to the Cubs. The World Series starts Wednesday night in St. Louis.

"All parties expect that to happen, although it's unclear how the deal will look when it has been completed," Rogers writes.

A hold up in the deal might be Red Sox staffers Epstein wants to bring with him to Chicago. Because he's still under the contract, the Cubs would have to pay extra for any staffers who come with, according to the report.
