Report: AP Exam Results Falling Along Racial Lines

CHICAGO (CBS) -- More Illinois high school seniors are taking Advanced Placement courses, but a new report says the bad news is that success seems to fall along racial lines.

Only 38 percent of low-income students earned the top marks needed for college credit.

A total of 75 percent of low-income students earned at least one top mark, compared with 22 percent of African-American, and 54 percent of Hispanic teens.

Homewood-Flossmoor High School has some new bragging rights when it comes to AP exams.

For the second straight year, it leads the nation in the number of African-American students' scores on the AP psychology exam.
