Police Search For Man Who Posed As Cop, Raped Woman In Uptown

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman earlier this month in the Uptown neighborhood on the North Side.

On Oct. 4, the woman was walking in the 4700 block of North Clark Street when an unknown man driving an SUV approached her about 1 a.m. and identified himself as a police officer, according to a community alert from Area North detectives.

The man told the woman he noticed someone following her and that she should enter his vehicle for safety, police said. He later sexually abused her when he forced her to exit the vehicle so he could "search" her.

The man was descried as a light-complexioned black man, about 30 to 40 years old, 6-feet tall and about 220 pounds with a short afro haircut. He was described as clean-cut and well-spoken, driving a large, dark-colored SUV.

Anyone with information can call detectives at (312) 744-8261.
