CHICAGO (CBS) The funeral for fallen Chicago police Officer Samuel Jimenez took place in Des Plaines on Monday. He was one of three people killed by a gunman at Mercy Hospital last Monday.
The funeral mass for fallen officer Samuel Jimenez has concluded. Cardinal Blase Cupich delivered the final remarks. The congregation, led by Chicago police officers, exits the church. Jimenez's family followed the casket and dozens of officers leaving the church.
Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner addresses the audience with his remarks regarding Samuel Jimenez. "We will never let his memory die. To our officers here today across the state of Illinois, thank you. God bless you. Yours is the most noble calling."

Without knowing the danger he was going into, he rushed into action to help his fellow officers. That's the kind of person Samuel was. He was a hero."
Officer Rafael Villegas on Jimenez: 'He was a hard working man. His passion to serve others was one of his greatest qualities. His selfless thoughts showed through his everyday life. He would give you a hand even if you never asked for it."
Officer Rafael Villegas is the first person to deliver personal remarks on the life of Samuel Jimenez. "I'm still having trouble wrapping my mind around this tragedy," Villegas said. "His family was his driving force. Everything he did, he did with them in mind."

Father Dan Brandt delivers the homily for the funeral mass of Chicago police Officer Jimenez. "He ran towards trouble, he ran toward danger. He had his life stolen from him. He fought for his life. It was a life well-lived," Brandt said.

Mourners and police officers enter the church and fill in the pews. Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich will provide the greeting and will preside over the service. Cupich is the main celebrant.
The casket of officer Jimenez has entered the church. Standing outside watching the casket going inside is Crystal Garcia, Jimenez's wife. She was flanked by other police officers from around the area.
Bagpipers enter the church ahead of the casket of officer Jimenez as hundreds of officers stand outside.
The hearse carrying the hearse of fallen officer Samuel Jimenez has arrived outside the church. Among those who will speak at the funeral will be Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson as well as other Chicago police officers.

A week after they were shot and killed in an attack at Mercy Hospital, Chicago Police Officer Samuel Jimenez and Dr. Dayna Less will be laid to rest on Monday.
Cardinal Blase Cupich will preside over funeral services for Officer Jimenez at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of St. Joseph at Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines. Jimenez, a rookie officer, was killed in the line of duty while responding to a shooting at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center one week ago.

Thousands of police officers from across the country attended Jimenez's wake on Sunday in Des Plaines.
A private burial service for Jimenez will be held at Ridgewood Memorial Park.
Meantime, the funeral for Dr. Less will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church in south suburban Lansing. Her funeral will be private, and she will be laid to rest afterward at St. Sava Cemetery in Libertyville.
Less, 24, was shot and killed as she was walking off an elevator at Mercy Hospital one week ago.
The gunman also shot and killed his former fiancée, Dr. Tamara O'Neal, 38, outside the hospital. After killing Less and Jimenez inside the hospital, the gunman turned his weapon on himself, was killed in a shootout with police. An autopsy determined he was killed by an officer's bullet, with the self-inflicted gunshot a contributing factor.
