Police: Man Threatened Tow Truck Driver With Gun During Repossession
CHICAGO (STMW) – A man is under arrest for allegedly smashing the window of a tow truck and putting a gun to the head of its driver, who was trying to repossess a truck early Thursday on the West Side.
The incident happened at 3:50 a.m. at 4150 W. Carroll Ave., according to Harrison District Police Lt. John Andrews.
When the victim tried to repossess a truck, the 29-year-old suspect and other family members exited a residence and broke windows on his tow truck.
The suspect then held a gun to the repo man's head, the lieutenant said. "He floored it to get away but hit a female member standing nearby." She was not badly hurt.
Police were summoned to the scene and found the suspect hiding inside a closet in the residence. He was arrested and the weapon recovered.
Authorities are seeking felony unlawful use a weapon, aggravated assault and criminal damage to property charges, the lieutenant said.
Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
