Man Critically Wounded In Police-Involved Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW)--  A man was critically wounded Monday night when he was shot by police on the West Side.

The police-involved shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. at West Ohio Street and North Sawyer Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.

Fire Department paramedics took a man, who apparently was shot by police, from the scene to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.

Police did not immediately have any details on the incident, but O'Brien said there was no indication that any police officers were injured.

The Independent Police Review Authority, which investigates all police-involved shootings, was not immediately available for comment.

IPRA and Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
