CHICAGO (CBS) — The last trace of talk show queen Oprah Winfrey's roots in the Chicago area is up for sale.
She has put a home she owns in West Suburban Elmwood Park on the market. It is a home most neighbors never knew was owned by a celebrity seller, CBS 2's Jeremy Ross reports.
Neighbors already bought into Elmwood Park's location, but some are only learning about the talk show star who bought into this community years ago.
A representative for Oprah Winfrey said she no longer needs this four-bedroom, two-bath home and did not live there.
As Jay Shipinski helps a neighbor move, he said the people living inside Oprah's home moved out about a month ago.
The for sale sign moved onto the law over the past few weeks. It is described as an all brick colonial that is more than 2,200 square feet with wood burning fireplaces and hardwood floors.
Purchased in 2001 for just under $300,000, now lists for just under $400,000.
As for why it was bought or why it is now on the market? That unknown includes who will move into the house the media mogul once owned.
Oprah's reps did not comment on why the investment was made, and the listed agent did not return CBS 2's call for the story.
