Offensive Baseball

It's no wonder the Cubs are starting to play to some empty seats.  It's pretty hard to justify paying a lot of money to see a team that is so anemic offensively. The Cubs managed just 5 hits on Wednesday losing 2-0 to Pittsburgh as the Pirates have now won 9 out of the 12 games played between the two teams.

The wind blowing in definitely took a couple of home runs away from the northsiders but excuses are for losers, This team just doesn't hit and the numbers reflect it. They are last or near the bottom in just about every important production number in the National League.

Too bad because the pitchers have done a pretty good job overall. Tom Gorzelanny hurled 5 shutout innings on Wednesday but was rewarded with nothing. Meanwhile Brad Lincoln won his first game of the season for the Pirates but it might have well been Abe Lincoln. Opposing pitchers,  at this point,  all look like Sandy Koufax vs. the Cubs.

Rudy Jaramillo was brought in to help the offense as the teams new hitting coach but you can't blame him. He works extremely hard and cares deeply but the hitters are swinging bats made of petrified wood.
